LD McDonnell
L.D. McDonnell is a husband, a father of three kids, and is a native of Charleston, West Virginia. He began his career working in county government sixteen years ago and has had the opportunity to work along-side with law enforcement officers. Now he works in state government as an information systems consultant and continuity of operations coordinator.

Starting at an early age L.D. McDonnell has advocated for people with disabilities by working with leaders to make sure local schools were handicap accessible. He has also been recognized by the United States Department of Justice Office for his assistance in making sure county government buildings were 503 compliant. L.D. McDonnell has also been named as the Charleston, West Virginia Man of the Year by West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services.

L.D. McDonnell has over twenty years of experience in martial arts and has earned a black belt in karate, purple belt in jujitsu and a yellow sash in the STRIKE (Spontaneous Tactical Response Incorporating Kinetic Energy) System with a focus on defensive blade concepts. His journey in martial arts has gained local and national attention. He has been featured in local newspaper, magazine articles, a radio show, several martial arts related blog sites, and has made an appearance on the Maury Povich Show to showcase his skills in the episode titled “Little People with Big Talent”.

L.D. McDonnell is a Diastrophic Dwarf and is three feet tall. He began writing about his experiences as a dwarf practicing martial arts under the name Karate Kickin Dwarf. During this time, he began developing characters for his first novel.

L.D. McDonnell has an associate degree from West Virginia Community Technical College, a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University, and a master’s degree from Norwich University. He is also an ordained minister licensed to officiate wedding ceremonies.
